The Shore of Deprivation

About this book

Alaa Abu Shehata brings together several forms of literary writing developed over years. The collection includes poetry in standard Arabic and Egyptian dialect, experiments with drama in prose and verse, and prose articles. A final section gathers reflections and aphorisms. The author presents this range as a response to readers’ different literary interests, rather than limiting the volume to poetry alone.
