The Land of Bardis

About this book

In 1897, the village of Bardis is ruled by secrets and one ancient warning: never open the windows at dawn. When young Hagar breaks that law, a black scorpion takes her sister Ruqayya and leaves the family marked by grief. As strangers, camel patrols, and enigmatic figures arrive, swarms of scorpions turn the village into a landscape of fear. Ahmed Antar's historical horror novel explores guilt, place, sacrifice, and whether blood can ever settle the debts of the past.
