Those illusions that surround a person, depicting reality to him as other than it is: what he thinks is right is in fact left, and what he thinks is left may in truth be otherwise. The illusions a person lives in resemble the shroud colored white on the outside, so you think it holds hope, optimism, and life, but inside it holds nothing but death and torn, decaying bodies. Hence the book's title, Wrapped in Shrouds, for each of us has his own shroud of the illusion he lives in.
