Walah: Alif Lam Ra (French Edition)

About this book

This French-language novel revisits the story of Joseph through multiple voices, moving from Harran to Egypt and between the well, the palace and prison. Jacob's faith and grief, Rachel and Leah's rivalry, the brothers' jealousy and betrayal, and Zouleykha's desire form different perspectives on the unfolding story. Mustafa Awad connects Joseph's trials with exile, loss, memory and the search for inner freedom. The novel asks how power affects bodily autonomy and personal choice, and whether love can survive the urge to possess another person.
