About Abu al-Faraj Ibn al-Jawzi
He studied hadith, law and Qur’anic interpretation, becoming known for his sermons and prolific writing on religion, history, literature and human affairs. His works include Zad al-Masir, al-Muntazam, Talbis Iblis and Sayd al-Khatir. His anecdotal collections combine social observation with moral reflection. The catalogue represents this literary side through Akhbar al-Hamqa wa-l-Mughaffalin, Akhbar al-Zuraf wa-l-Mutamajinin and an edition attributing Akhbar al-Nisa’ to him.
