Life and work
About George Gordon, Lord Byron
Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage brought him widespread fame, while Don Juan combined verse narrative with satire and social criticism. His writing ranges across lyric poetry, verse drama and narrative poems, and his name became associated with the troubled, rebellious Romantic hero. He spent an important part of his life outside Britain and supported Greek independence until his death at Missolonghi. This catalogue includes him in a selection shared with Percy Bysshe Shelley; each poet’s identity and the attribution of individual poems should remain distinct.
