Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan

About this book

Abbas Mahmoud Al-Aqqad approaches Muawiyah ibn Abi Sufyan as a complex historical personality rather than a figure confined to inherited praise or condemnation. The study weighs his political acumen and celebrated forbearance against his ambitions, disputed decisions, and enduring influence. By moving beyond a conventional chronological biography, Al-Aqqad turns the life into an inquiry about leadership, statecraft, and judgment during a formative period of Islamic history. The reader is invited to assess the record and decide how political genius and contested rule coexist.
